Track Days

A track day is the safest place to enjoy your car the way it was built to be driven: a closed circuit, no oncoming traffic and organized sessions grouped by experience. You don't need a race car or racing background. Most people bring the car they drive every day. Speed Factor Vancouver runs days with our partners at circuits around BC, and registration is handled on MotorsportReg.

What to expect

A track day (often called HPDE, high performance driver education) is not a race. There is no wheel-to-wheel competition, and passing follows rules explained at the drivers meeting.

  • Run groups. Drivers are split into groups by experience and take turns on track in short sessions throughout the day. Newer drivers are typically placed in a novice group, and some events offer instructors.
  • Drivers meeting. A mandatory briefing in the morning covers flags, passing rules and the day's schedule.

  • Tech inspection. Your car needs to meet basic safety standards. Our tech inspection sheet (PDF) covers tires and wheels (all lug nuts present and tight, no hubcaps), brakes (pads at least 5 mm, fluid, rotors, brake lights), no fluid leaks, a secured battery with covered terminals, seats, body panels and aero secured, and no loose objects in the car. A HANS device is mandatory with 4/5/6-point harnesses.
  • Helmet. A Snell-rated helmet is required. Each event lists the minimum rating it accepts.
  • ID and licence. Bring a valid driver's licence and any ID the circuit asks for.

  • Circuit rules. Some circuits set their own limits, such as experience requirements or how many days non-members can attend. These are listed on each event page.
